O sub- director do OAL, Frederico Thomaz Oom, que tinha ajudado nos preparativos da viagem, estava \u00e0 espera deles. Visitaram o observat\u00f3rio durante cerca de duas horas e conheceram o director C\u00e9sar Augusto Campos Rodrigues, ent\u00e3o com 82 anos. Passearam em Lisboa, num carro alugado para o efeito por Oom.
