Across the Atlantic at Sobral, the team there enjoyed excellent visibility, with no clouds and no worries about the weather. The astronomers and the locals stared at powerful spectacle, many of the natives awe-struck  by the event they never seen before. Here, photographs of the same stars were taken, but not developed on the site. These plates were shipped to England and arrived there long after the team at Principe had developed theirs.
